This is a question I get asked a lot of the time and to be honest I almost never can make up my mind. I am really falling in love with watercolor, which is something I equally hate at times. Yes, I know its weird.

I wish to get back into my first love of gouache paints. Hopefully I will have something new to show soon, hold tight.

I really enjoy the gouache painting of 'The Eyes.' This was done in college and will forever hold a place in my heart.

My recent love has come to be the watercolor painting of 'Shell 2.' The layout, flow and colors just continue to draw me in.

I have been given a wonderful opportunity to explore the wedding world of invitations and marketing over the last few years. This has really expanded my creativity in a new and exciting way.

But I am constantly wanted to explore my own designs at the same time. If I don't keep moving with new and creative ways to express my artwork in different fields then I will forever be stuck and then passed by.

Katie O'Brien

Finding art and beauty in the everyday has been a passion at Katie O'Brien Design since inception. Specializing in design, illustration, calligraphy we know that art can be found everywhere and therefore should be seen in everything.

We believe that along with our clients' needs and expectations our art should continue to evolve and grow and we strive to show that in every project. Much of our portfolio is comprised of commission work, which has allowed us to follow new and innovative paths and express our design in processes that challenge and innovate.

Since her youth, Katie O'Brien has found love in nurturing her art. A native of Southern Orange County, California, she has sustained her passion through out her adult life.

As Katie entered high school and college she dedicated her efforts towards the exciting fields of paint, pencil and charcoal among many other forms of expression. Graduation from California State University in Long Beach with a degree in Studio Arts and an emphasis in Illustration, Katie O’Brien enthusiastically assumed a position as an art instructor and began to nurture her career as a creative designer.

Developing a number of illustrations for the commercial clothing market, wedding industry, real estate industry, architectural industry and has assumed a number of private commissions.  Katie recently moved her journey to Reno, NV - where she enjoys finding new art inspiration in the outdoors with her husband and two children.

"Katie O'Brien Design is simply one of the best. As a wedding designer we are so lucky when we are able to work Katie on one of our projects.

Her attention to detail and ability to execute the client’s vision is incredible. Her ability to use her art background and event knowledge creates a package that is totally unique and still timeless. We have worked with Katie on everything from personal art, to corporate events, to full wedding invitation suites.

We love working with her and will continue to rave about her along the way.

"Katie did our entire paper suite which included: invites, watercolors, calligraphy, escort and place cards, menus, ceremony programs and thank you cards. She is truly an artist. Katie came up with the designs from start to finish after listening to my vision and the end results we’re just remarkable. I got the most amazing feedback, and even the venues are requesting the water colors! I’d recommend Katie for anyone’s wedding, and will definitely use her again for anything I need that requires artistic vision!

Thank you Katie for making my dream paper suite come to life and giving me something I can cherish forever."

"Working with Katie is always a pleasure. We have had a wide array of collaboration over the years; from my ideas being much improved, to allowing her free reign with an initial vision. I have always been so amazed at her talent.
